Suriya, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh starrer political thriller drama NGK, is hitting the theaters today. The movie is directed by Selvaraghavan and is jointly bankrolled by S. R. Prakashbabu, S. R. Prabhu. This is the first time, Suriya and Selvaraghavan are working together for a movie. Devaraj, Ponvannan, Bala Singh, Thalaivasai and others are playing the supporting roles. Let’s see the story of NGK.
Story: NGK aka Nanda Gopalan Kumaran (Suriya) is an environmental engineering graduate but after resigning his job, he starts to do organic farming. He feels that he should enter in politics, so he joins as an assistant to a local MLA and becomes the CM of the states. He also plays a double game with the ruling party. Now, his family and followers are in danger. How does NGk saves his family? Form rest of the story.
Plus Points:
· Suriya
· Rakul Preet Singh’ glamour
Minus points:
· Sai Pallavi
· Direction
· Screenplay
Performance: Suriya delivers his wonderful performance and once again he proved that he has ability to carry the entire responsibility of the movie on his soldier. He stands on the top. The usually dependable Sai Pallavi as NGK’s wife is a big let down as she overacts and her performance looks artificial. Rakul Preet Singh as a PR strategist is good. Rest of the cast perform accordingly.
Technical: Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is strictly average and the editing is just ok. Production values are top notch. Production design and production values have given rich look. The two fights – one in marketplace and the other, inside a toilet are choreographed well. Art direction is another notable aspect of the film. Cinematographer has captured the scenes beautifully. Selvaraghavan’s narration lacks clarity, focus and the direction.
Analysis: The characters of Sai Pallavi, as NGK’s wife and Rakul Preet Singh, as a PR strategist with whom he enters into an extra-marital relationship, are the weakest links in this political thriller drama NGK. The plot of NGK is interesting and it could be executed in more exciting manner with little more effort.
