Gunasekhar about greatness and legacy of Shaakuntalam
Few weeks ago, suddenly, the film maker Gunasekhar announced Shaakuntalam and the movie lovers were shocked how the director decided to start this movie when he dedicated years for Rana Daggubati starrer Hiranyakasyapa.
The director Gunasekhar revealed that he has to wait for at least 6 to 8 months to take Rana starrer Hiranyakasyapa to sets as it requires huge number of stunt artists and background artists to start the shooting. So, he decided to start the movie Shaakuntalam, retelling of epic story from Adi Parva, Mahabharatam. Gunasekhar is on the hunt of an actress who is full of grace and heavenly beautiful to play the role of Shaakuntala.
Yesterday, the film maker Gunasekhar took to Twitter to reveal the greatness and legacy of Shaakuntalam. This epic drama Shaakuntalam by Kalidas was the first Indian drama translated into foreign languages. After William Jones translated it in 1789, later it was translated into 46 foreign languages such as Norwegian, French, Italian etc in the year 1889.
According to Gunasekhar, the upcoming film is all about the story of Shakuntala, daughter of the sage Vishwamitra and the apsara Menaka. It is based upon an affair, secret marriage, separation of imprecation and reunion of immortal love of Shaakuntala and Dushyant.
