Pawan Kalyan for the people for Vizag Steel Plant
Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan joined the agitation by the workers of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, against the Central government’s decision to privatize it. Pawan Kalyan, whose Jana Sena Party is in an alliance with the BJP- Bharatiya Janata Party participated in the protest and supported workers’ struggle.
Jana Sena Party general secretary T Sivasankar has said : An agreement made at the time of land acquisition for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant states that the land should be used only for the public purposes, and 7,000 displaced persons Visakhapatnam Steel Plant are yet to get jobs. The agreement does not allow the sale of land to private parties or for other purposes.
Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan will address the rally of the steel plant workers under the banner of Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Committee at the steel plant entrance near Kurmannapalem junction.
Though initially Vizag police denied the permission for the meeting on the grounds of law and order, but later they consented following the protests by Jana Sena Party activists, who said it was not a political meeting, but it was meant only for the expressing solidarity with the striking steel plant workers.
